After three decades of visionary leadership, Janczewski is leading ARENA DANCES into a bold new era through the launch of a contemporary repertory company model centered on sustainability, artistic rigor, and long-term investment in dance artists. The company now provides 22 weeks of employment for a core ensemble of six dance artists while commissioning choreographers from Minnesota, New York, and across the country to create work in sustained residency with the company. Designed in response to a field often defined by project-to-project instability, the repertory structure prioritizes continuity, collaboration, and deeper artistic exploration while expanding the range of voices, aesthetics, and movement practices experienced by Minnesota audiences. Through this vision, Janczewski is helping reimagine a sustainable future for contemporary dance in Minnesota at a critical moment of transition within the state’s arts ecosystem.
