ARENA's Third Decade
ARENA's Third Decade
As ARENA DANCES enters its third decade, the organization is boldly launching a new chapter: a contemporary repertory company model built around sustainability, artistic rigor, and long-term investment in dance artists. At the center of this vision is a contracted company of six dancers receiving 22 weeks of stable employment — a rare commitment within a field often defined by project-to-project work. This artist-centered structure allows dancers and choreographers to build deeper creative relationships, develop shared physical language, and take greater artistic risks through sustained collaboration. ARENA’s repertory company presents original works by Janczewski alongside commissions by emerging and nationally recognized choreographers from Minnesota, New York, and across the country, bringing diverse aesthetics, perspectives, and movement practices into dialogue with local artists and audiences. In a rapidly shifting dance landscape, ARENA is helping imagine a more sustainable future for contemporary dance in Minnesota.
